Happy Earth Day!

Whew what a busy weekend, celebrating Earth Day has worn me out!  Did your city celebrate over the weekend too?  Well Memphis certainly did and boy did they do it in style.  I spent 6 hours hiding from the sun under my tent at my booth.  The last few hours were spent fanning away the horse smell, I was directly downwind of the pony rides.  But it was a great time.  I got to meet several of my readers and hopefully attracted several more.

Unfortunitly I wasn’t able to leave my booth so I can’t really report on the “greeness” of the festival but I can report on what was happening right in front of my booth.  I have to say that I was impressed by the recycling that was going on.  There were several recycling locations set up all around the festival and each one had several volunteers stationed at them.  They were instructing the visitors which bins to use for the trash that they had.  The only thing I noticed was that they were adding non-recyclable plastic in with the regular plastics.

This is the first time I have really celebrated Earth Day.  Normally it’s just another day closer to Summer break or the day before Administrative Professionals day.  This year things are different.  I feel like today is the best time to really get people involved in the green movement.  Unfortunitly Earth Day is being used as another “Christmas” for most retailers.  It’s just another day to have a big sale on what they perceive as green.  I hope that you use today as a day to “evangelize” to your fellow earthlings about the growing climate crisis.

I make everyday Earth Day…you should too!
