what if you used small squares of handkerchief or bandanna wrapped around a piece of bamboo skewer? You could throw it in the laundry and re-use it and not have to keep buying replacements.

It is true that it is so easy to use plastic and sometimes without even thinking. It would be nice if at the grocercy store there was an alternative to the plastic bag for produce while you are shopping. I wish you and your family the best!

You can purchase biodegradable trash bags and trash bags made from recycled plastic. They are a bit more expensive but if you reduce your trash output then you need less bags so it all kind of evens outs.

In case you haven't seen products like ours, there are now biodegradable bag options to go along with the biodegradable containers. Our products are one line of products that are now being used to collect compostables and organic waste. Please note that you should make sure that any bag you use for composting carries the BPI logo (www.bpiworld.org)

Thanks for caring

That's great you guys...keep the suggestions coming!

You know as I was reading your comments I had this vivid memory of the 2 boxes of trash that we collected last year just from our house, not to mention the HUGE trash bag that we filled at my mom's house. If memory serves me, one of those boxes was only filled with plastic. And if I remember right that box went directly to the curb becuase none of it was recycable plastic...what a waste!
